Practice Areas
Patrick Whitehead, after receiving his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida in 1996, received a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University in 1997. His course of study at NYU included many areas of tax law; such as, estate, gift and generation skipping transfer tax, income tax, partnership tax, Subchapter S corporation tax, corporation tax, and foreign tax. Mr. Whitehead first put his legal education into practice as an attorney in the Corporate Department at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. where tax partners mentored him in all areas of tax law. After serving in that department for approximately two years, Mr. Whitehead transferred to the Private Wealth Services Department at Gunster Yoakley where senior estate and trust partners mentored him in all areas of estate planning and probate and trust administration for the firm's high net-worth clients.
Subsequent to his position at Gunster Yoakley, Mr. Whitehead joined the firm of Jones, Foster, Johnston & Stubbs, P.A. as an estate and trust attorney and tax attorney. Mr. Whitehead next became in-house legal counsel for one of Jones Foster’s clients, Palm Beach Atlantic University. Mr. Whitehead served as University Counsel, Assistant Vice President, and Director of Planned Giving for Palm Beach Atlantic, a non-profit, faith-based University serving approximately 4000 students and having an annual operating budget of approximately $60M.
Mr. Whitehead’s education, legal training, and non-profit experience form the basis upon which the firm’s attorneys and paralegals now render legal advice and counsel in the practice areas of Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Administration, Non-Profit Entities, Business Transactions, and Guardianship.
